Ogden Point Marine Life and Ecological Information Kiosk

As part of the enhancement and public use of the South Shore of Ogden Point, and a link to the Harbour Pathway project, the Ogden Point Enhancement Society (OPES) in cooperation with local photographers has completed the installation of the ecological information kiosk. This project compliments the present historical land-use information kiosk located at Confederation Point and the underwater plaques located along the outer wall of the breakwater. This interpretive display, serves to enhance recreational uses of the breakwater as well as the cruise ship receiving area for the benefit of both visitors and locals.

The kiosk has four major themes: Underwater Marine Life, The Marine Environment – The Ocean-Land Interface, the Lower Gulf Islands, Parks and Marine Protected Areas and Terrestrial Ecosystems. Display signs corresponding to the existing underwater plaques will form an integral component of the kiosk display in order to enable Ogden Point visitors to relate to the attributes of the underwater environment. These plaques will enhance the experience of all that come to the Ogden Point Breakwater to dive, fish or photograph in the area.

As one of the main photo contributors to this project, I am extremly pleased that this project will have such a positive impact on the locals and visitors a like. I hope this project will help inform and educate anyone who take the time to enjoy the information and images. Anything to help promote diving and tourism in the greater Victoria area, Vancouver Island and all along the Pacifc Coast.
